Young Barristers makes public statement regarding Primary Health Care system reform and talks about its importance to the country and to the society.
“Young Barristers” believes, that now, it can safely claimed, that system has developed significantly within such a short period of time as a result of government’s efforts and its policy. HCV Elimination Program and Universal Health Care Program, launched and implemented in Georgia, should only be appraised positively.
The experience in this field reveals, that Primary Health Care in Georgia was ignored and the main focus was only on the hospital treatment. In the frameworks of Universal Health Care Program, most of the money, allocated from the State Budget, was spent for surgeries and other kinds of high-tech medical interventions.
Obviously, such a trend will become a heavy burden for the state budget in a near future and accordingly it is here, where Primary Health Care Program is going to help to achieve maximum cost-effectiveness within the system.
Primary Health Care is actually the primary stage, where the diseases are discovered, subsequently treated and prevented. However, Primary Health Care program can’t be effective, without Universal Health Care Program. These are reforms to be implemented together. It is in the interests of the State, that fewer people needed hospital interventions.
“Young Barristers” would like to talk about the importance of HCV Elimination Program as well. This is very useful and important program for the country and especially for those, infected.
These people can get sufficient medical treatment without any charge, while in the past, they would have to pay lots of money for the same treatment. Everyone has a right to life and health and the Government is obliged to protect these right. Therefore, current changes in the health care system can be appraised positively.
