Tamar Chakhunashvili, senior doctor at the MMedi 22 clinic, talks about the performance of the primary healthcare chian.
“Our clinic makes main accent on the primary chain. We have no ground to complain about the number of patients and they have no pretences concerning the service quality. Nevertheless, doctors have to perform huge job. We have insured about 4 000 children, but their services are financed by only 8 000 GEL and this sum does not suffice for 12 pediatricians and 10 specialists.
The main category of our patients is of 2 to 5 years old that become ill twice a month on average. Parents are entitled to take their even healthy children to doctors for prevention.
Doctors take about 300 GEL salaries on average, while they must not think to get rid of patients as soon as possible to rush to another job place to somehow earn about 400 GEL a month. Salaries must increase to doctors along with the primary chain enhancement”,Chakhunashvili said.
“We sign agreements with the clinic that have good echoscopy and we refer patients there if ultrasonographic examination is necessary. The reality is the clinic finances these examinations. It is much release for parent to receive free services and I could not say anything negative form the position of ordinary citizen.
Injections, consultations, primary obligatory examinations before 3 months are necessary. Previously patients used to pay for these services. Today patients pay no penny for these services and this is much preference. Professional doctors serve patients in the primary healthcare chain”, Tamar Chakhunashvili noted.
As reported, the Georgian Health Ministry has started preparatory works for the primary healthcare chain reformation. Global Alliance international consulting company is providing consulting services for implementing the reforms jointly with Hepatitis C elimination and overall heath reforms.
